The general manager of the site will go out of her way to ruin your day. She is not a very nice person and has no respect for peoples lives and feelings. I never write reviews but she has not been nice at all which has led me to write this. ... Read more
I have been living at Hotwells House since September 2017 and I feel like a I am paying way to much for what I get. Firstly, the quality of room is really law, especially the bathroom. Atmosphere is okey, but not very welcoming and also it gets way too loud + be careful lots of music students - singing, guitar, drums everyday, even at night. Location is nice - Harbourside, however is far from all the big shops and from the uni. Staff is not helpful. ... Read more
This review is written by a PGCE student; undergraduates please ignore this review as you may have a completely different experience. However, if you are a postgraduate student or someone with a heavy workload that needs a lot of sleep, I advise you to stay away from this accommodation. It was a last resort for me as I couldn't find anyone to house share with and it has made my year of studying more stressful than it needed to be. My course was very hectic and dragging yourself out of bed at 6 in the morning to go to school after being kept awake by screaming girls, slamming doors and very loud music was extremely difficult. Although the management team did arrange for our flat to be mostly postgraduate students, the noise and atmosphere around the rest of the buildings meant that this was completely ineffective. I imagine this would be a great place for freshers and other undergraduate/college students, everyone is very keen to socialise but I just wanted to give an honest perspective so that no other postgraduates need to go through the extra stress that it gave me. Luckily I can go home every weekend to escape the mess and noise but other people aren't in that position so really consider what you want from your accommodation before you pay your deposit. I wouldn't say this place is value for money and it is very annoying that there is no security desk - £60 charge for getting locked out! Office hours are 8-5.30 and it is never open on weekends - not very accessible if you spend most of your time in work/uni. ... Read more
This place has been the worst I could have chosen. Horrible residents. Uncooperative staff. When repairs were done, they were sub-standard and just broke all over again. Sleepless nights due to excessive loud music and the stench of weed throughout the building. Expensive for what it really is. AVOID. ... Read more
Living in hotwells has been a nightmare, the doors automatically lock on you and if the staff aren't in to let you back in you have to pay a call out charge of £60 to get let back in to your own room! The receptionists are woefully unhelpful and often rude if you have a complaint to make. And all this doesn't come cheap, its the most expensive accommodation i have ever lived in leaving me with almost nothing left of my student loan. DONT COME TO HOTWELLS! ... Read more
